The site is known today as a place of bird suicides. It is said that the birds swoop themselves to their deaths on moonless nights, especially during September and October. Since this phenomenon is believed to have been occurring for centuries, Jatinga is a place where not even the brave dare to go on moonless nights.

Dow Hill, West Bengal There is a Dow Hill Boarding School in the area which is said to be haunted. People believe that they have seen ghosts in the area. There is a forest around the school which contributes to the mystical stories. It is said that years ago there were many murders in the forest and that is why spirits have been wandering around Dow Hill.
