1917
Due to a lack of metal during World War 1, women were
instructed to stop wearing corsets since they featured metal
wiring frames. At that point, ladies started wearing brassieres
as an alternative.
1920
In 1920, bandeaus replaced brassieres. They gave ladies an
androgynous appearance by flattening the bust.
1922
Maidenform was founded in 1922 by Ida Rosenthal, her
husband William, and Enid Bisset. This was a significant
turning point in the history of bras since it marked the
beginning of the contemporary system of cup sizes. The
brassiere created at this time accentuated the feminine body's
inherent form.
1930
The term "bra" first appeared in popular culture in 1930.
1940
Conical-structure bras were developed during World War 2 to
safeguard women.
1947
Frederick Mellinger created the first push-up technique in
1947.
1950
Marilyn Monroe, an actress, made the Sweater Girl style
popular in 1950. (wearing a bullet style). This caused the trend
to suddenly boom.
